Within this site you will find general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas, as well as information regarding specific properties within the district.

San Saba County Appraisal District is responsible for the fair market appraisal of properties within the county. Additional responsibilities include change of address and public information requests. The duties of the appraisal district include the determination of market value of taxable property and the administration of exemptions and special valuations authorized by the local entities and the state of Texas.

Tax rates and ultimately the amount of taxes levied on property are determined by governing bodies of each of the taxing authorities.  Mineral, utility and industrial accounts are appraised for the district by Pritchard & Abbott, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas. Real estate and personal property accounts are appraised locally by the district.

The San Saba County Appraisal District appraises property for ad valorem taxation and also collects the taxes for each of the following taxing authorities:

  • San Saba County
  • City of San Saba
  • City of Richland Springs
  • San Saba ISD
  • Richland Springs ISD
  • Cherokee ISD
  • Hickory UWCD #1
